From Pastor Vallerie’s Desk in Paris --
“Do You Hear What I Hear?” On this Sunday, November 29, we will begin the Season of Advent. Christmas has always been a season that is associated with music. Most of us look forward to singing Christmas carols, attending concerts and listening to Christmas specials on TV. At this time of year, I love listening to Handel’s “Messiah” once again. Hearing this beautiful oratorio always brings joy to my heart. Christmas is a time for music. Speaking of music, the Paris Community Choir will host their annual Advent Service at Paris Presbyterian on Sunday, December 5 at 3 p.m. Our own Susan Farris is directing. I hope you will plan to attend. During the Advent Season at NPPC, our morning worship services will be centered around the theme: “Do You Hear What I Hear?” November 28: The Sound of Hope - Luke 1:5-24 December 5: The Sound of Peace - Luke 1:26-38 December 12: The Sound of Joy - Luke 1:39-56 December 19: The Sound of Love - Luke 2:1-20 On Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24, at 6 p.m., our worship service will be centered around the theme, “The Light Has Come” from John 1:1-18. We will have a choir and hold our traditional candle lighting ceremony. In addition to our worship services, everyone is invited to join us for Family Night on Saturday, December 11 at 6 p.m. Our youth and others will present the Christmas play, “Manger Tales.” We will enjoy a time of fellowship as we eat some snack foods. I have heard a rumor that a very special guest may be coming. You won’t want to miss him! Do you hear what I hear? Let us listen with the ears of our hearts and welcome the sound of Christ’s coming once again. I look forward to celebrating the Season of Advent with each of you, Pastor Vallerie
